Over The Edge is an independent youth travel basketball program based in Chicago and the near north/northwest suburbs. The focus of the program is to prepare grade school boys and girls to play high school basketball. The program is not affiliated with any high school or high school feeder program. Our philosophy is simple: We are Over The Edge “ON FUNDAMENTALS”. We put a heavy emphasis on sound ball-handling, man-to-man defensive skills and transition basketball. The cornerstone of our program is teaching proper shooting and footwork fundamentals. Our coaches have been taught by one of the top shooting instructors in the country Dick Baumgartner. We believe our shooting instruction is the best in the chicagoland area. There is coaching continuity so that skills taught at the younger levels are reinforced and refined each year, at each level.
We are a developmental program. Not only are players taught basketball fundamentals, they are taught to respect the game as well as their teammates, coaches, referees, and opposing players. Players understand - playing time is earned by those who work hard and make a commitment to get better. We believe our playing time philosophy better prepares kids for their high school careers. Many of our former players are currently rostered on area high school teams. Approximately (16) of our 1st two girls’ classes (current juniors and seniors) are playing on varsity teams at Loyola Academy, St. Ignatius and Resurrection high school. Many more are playing at the freshman and sophomore levels. Our oldest boys’ team is currently in 8th grade and we expect many of them to make their high school team.
